The entry "build/" will ignore any directory named "build" at any level of the source tree, including our scripts/build directory. We only want to ignore the top-level build directory created by `make install`. As the git manpage suggests, entries with slashes at the start or in the middle will only match at the same level as the .gitignore, hence use build/** instead.
